The Red Hats......well, that's what we call ourselves. What can I say about this bunch of women? We were all classmates in school together. We were business students, cheerleaders and college track. The lives we lead now are many and varied. Nurse, town selectwoman, business women, school teachers and mothers.
Last year when I moved home to Maine I joined up with these ladies and became reacquainted with them. We had hilarious long lunches with so much laughter that your stomach muscles ached for days afterwards. We went to a square dance where we giggled and laughed so hard that the instructor thought we'd come drunk to the dance. We laughed all the harder because none of us had been drinking.
At the heart of it all, we are friends who love each other and support each other and gain strength from each other.

Dianne is absent, she couldn't be with us this day.
Last night, April 2nd, our dear Shari lost her four year battle with cancer. We are all deeply saddened by her loss. There are so many words to use when describing Shari. A fighter, courageous, optimistic, kind and full of fun. No one could ask for a braver example in this fight for her life.
Tomorrow is Easter and I think my friend Jane said it best when she said, "Shari has brought many of us together again and lead the way in loving. That is the whole Easter message and Jesus last commandment. Love one another."
