Da Piero Ristorante Pizzaria

Da Piero Ristorate Pizzaria in UnterJettingen.  This is our first excursion into our village to one of the three Italian restaurants. We had thought about walking as this is only a half mile from our house but it was snowing rapidly and the streets were so icy we decided to drive. Da Piero's decor is cute and functional and the food is delightful. The staff is friendly and eager to please their guests. Being a German establishment it was spic and span clean.

The artichoke salad was wonderful.  This was not a combination that I would have dreamed up myself but it was excellent and worthy of recreating for all you artichoke lovers out there. I must say the plate that it was served on really dressed up the dish. To make this recipe, start with a layer of leaf lettace (washed and dried) Arrange your articokes over the lettace. These were freshly cooked artichokes although I am sure you could use a canned variety in a pinch. Next sprinkle black olives and canned corn to make it look pretty. Add a dash of parsley, drizzle with oil and vinegar. Garnish with lemon.  DELISH!
I had the salmon stuffed ravioli in a tomato cream sauce. It was garnished with a thin slice of smoked salmon.  This dish was excellent, although I found the portion overly generous. It was quite a strong salmon flavor. The cream sauce was made with their homemade spaghetti sauce mixed with fresh cream.
Mac decided he was in a pasta and beef mood.  He had the spaghetti in a spinach cream sauce. I found the pasta quite bland and I would have added some nutmeg myself to improve the dish.
Our German was a bit rusty and we couldn't remember how to say we wanted to "share" a dessert. Undaunted, we decided to ask for one dessert and two spoons. It consisted of the most fabulous panna cotta, tiramisu, ice cream and fresh fruit drizzled with a hot fudge sauce. Yum!
We finished off our meal with an expresso.

Doesn't Mac look happy!

Mac rates this restaurant 1 thumb up and wants to know what's for dinner tomorrow!
